What is the Propel Program

The MCAKC Propel Program was designed in partnership with Johnson County Community College (JCCC) to provide employees in the mechanical contracting industry with critical leadership skills needed to effectively lead projects, lead others, and lead leaders within their organization.

Leadership in its simplest form is the ability to influence.  In this in-depth training series, you will learn to confidently motivate your teams to achieve key business results.  This series will teach you the fundamentals of managing yourself, leading others, and motivating your organization’s leaders to accomplish your company’s strategic initiatives.

Taught by local leadership experts, this series of seminars incorporates group discussions, small group activities, case studies, and introspective exercises that provide you with resources to be a leader in this industry.

Propel is limited to 16 participants, creating an environment that empowers participants to collaborate and share their diverse perspectives, ideas, and personal and professional challenges.

Explore your personality, strengths, and weaknesses and develop a leadership style unique to you. You will return to your organization with confidence and an action plan for leading your projects, your team, and leaders within your company.

Program Goals
  • Improve your performance by strengthening your management and communication skills.
  • Handle difficult management situations with greater certainty in your decisions.
  • Identify how leadership styles affect team members and how to adjust those styles to gain commitment.
  • Identify and try new approaches needed for growth.
  • Build collaboration, teamwork, and trust to help others excel.

Who Should Attend?

Propel is ideal for new or experienced managers in any function who want to become better leaders, and is perfect for “Emerging Leaders” within an organization.

The Cost

This program is open to all employees of Contractors Signatory to Local 8, Local 533, and Associate Members of the MCAKC. 

Tuition for each 8-week stage: 

$1,000.00 Signatory Contractors – $500.00 reimbursed upon successful completion**
$2,000.00 Associate Members – $500.00 reimbursed upon the successful completion**
$2,500.00 Affiliates (Other Industry Associations)

**Successful completion is defined as missing no more than (1) seminar in a program level.
 Affiliates and Other Organizations are not eligible to receive the $500 tuition refund.

MCAKC Education Reimbursement Certificates may be used in lieu of payment.  Tuition paid using these certificates are not eligible to receive the $500 tuition refund.
