MCAKC members made their mark at the MCAA 2026 Annual Convention in Phoenix. From scholarship winners to national speakers, here’s a look at how Kansas City represented

Every year, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Annual Convention brings together the best minds in mechanical contracting from across the country. This year in Phoenix, Arizona, under the theme Beyond the Horizon, our Kansas City delegation didn’t just show up; they led.

Here’s a look at how MCAKC members made their mark at MCAA26.

Here’s a look at how MCAKC members made their mark at MCAA26.

Kansas City Takes the Stage

This year, two of our own stepped into the spotlight as featured speakers, bringing Kansas City’s expertise to a national audience.

Chris Hutchings, Regional President of Cerris Systems, joined a panel on continuous improvement, diving into how methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma help mechanical contractors operate more efficiently, more sustainably, and more competitively. In an industry where margins are tight and expectations are high, this kind of thinking matters.

Don Campbell, CHST, Vice President at P1 Construction, LLC, led a session on one of the most difficult conversations in our industry: navigating the aftermath of a tragic workplace incident. It takes courage to bring that conversation to a room full of peers. Don did it with the professionalism and care our industry needs.

Two very different topics. Both critical to where our industry is headed.

Thank you, Don and Chris, for representing Kansas City with excellence.

Awards of Excellence: Celebrating Scholarship Recipients

At the MCAA Awards of Excellence Breakfast, Kansas City had plenty to celebrate. Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship winners:

These scholarships represent more than financial support. They’re an investment in the next generation of mechanical construction professionals, the people who will design, build, and innovate the systems that keep our world running. We couldn’t be more proud of each of them.

On the Course: A Little Friendly Competition

Congratulations to Steve Hinshaw of P1 Construction, LLC, who took home Closest to the Pin honors at the MCAA golf tournament. Well played, Steve.

Kansas City: Still the City of Champions

From the stage to the awards breakfast to the golf course, MCAKC members showed up and delivered at every level of MCAA26. That’s not an accident. It’s the result of contractors, future professionals, and industry leaders who are committed, not just to their companies, but to this industry as a whole.

That’s what it means to go beyond the horizon.
